These terms cover your use of Benchwork Ballistics ("the app"). They are identified by the date they were published, shown above. By tapping "I agree" you accept them. By using the app you affirm that you accept them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
1. Predictions, not guarantees
The app calculates estimates of where a bullet will go. Those estimates come from a mathematical model and from the numbers you and others enter: bullet data, muzzle velocity, sight height, zero, weather and more.
- Real results differ from predictions. Small input errors can make large differences at long range.
- Always confirm your data by shooting at known distances, in safe conditions, before you rely on it.
- Never rely on the app alone for a shot where a miss could cause harm, including on game animals.
2. Firearm safety and the law
You are responsible for handling firearms safely and for every shot you take.
- Know your target, what is beyond it, and that you have a safe backstop.
- Follow the laws and rules where you shoot, including those for hunting, ranges, suppressors, ammunition and transport. The app does not tell you what is legal.
3. Data and its accuracy
The bullet library comes from manufacturers' published specifications and from an older library carried over from a previous app. It may contain mistakes or be out of date.
- Check bullet data against the manufacturer's current information.
- Readings from your device, such as air pressure and location, may be inaccurate.
- Data you download from a catalog address, or import from a file, is used as provided.
4. The reloader's notebook
The notebook is for keeping your own records. It is not load data.
- The app does not provide published load data, charge recommendations or pressure predictions, and nothing in it should be read that way.
- Reloading ammunition is hazardous. Always follow current published reloading manuals, start at the recommended starting loads and work up carefully.
- You alone are responsible for the ammunition you make and use.
5. Sharing, exporting and importing
Backups, shared rifles, bullet files and range cards contain your data.
- These files are not encrypted. Anyone who has a file can read it. Think before you share one.
- Files you receive from others are not checked for accuracy. Review imported data before relying on it.
6. Your data and privacy
Your data stays on your device. The app has no account and sends no usage data.
- The app goes online only to download a bullet catalog from the address shown in Settings, and only when you ask it to.
- Your location is read only when you tap "My location", and it is not sent anywhere.
- Your data can only be shared by you when you explicitly do so.
7. No warranty
The app is provided "as is", without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or freedom from errors.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the authors of the app are not liable for any injury, death, damage or loss arising from using it, from relying on its results, or from any error in it or in its data.
9. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated. Each version is identified by its published date. When an update to the app includes a newer version, you will be asked to read and accept it before continuing. The current version will also be published on the app's website.
