Stowed

Stowed Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 15, 2026

The short version: Stowed keeps your inventory, photos and settings on your device. We never receive them. The app has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. The only internet use is Google Play checking and completing a purchase of Pro.

Information We Collect

We do not collect any personal information. Stowed does not require an account. Everything you enter (collections, locations, items, notes, serial numbers, values, photos, files, log entries, contacts and settings) is stored only in the app's private storage on your device, encrypted with a key held in your device's secure storage. We never see it, because the app has no way to send it to us.

Internet Use and Purchases

The app does not connect to any server of ours. It requests network access only so that Google Play can show the price of Stowed Pro, complete a purchase and confirm it later. Your inventory is not sent. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play under Google's terms and privacy policy; we never receive your payment details. A remembered "Pro" status is kept on your device so Pro keeps working offline.

Photos and Files

When you add a photo, attach a file, import a spreadsheet or restore a backup, you choose it through Android's own picker, which gives the app access only to the item you pick. Chosen photos and files are copied into the app's private storage and encrypted. If you pick something from Google Drive, the transfer happens through Android's picker and Google's service, under Google's privacy policy.

Backups, Spreadsheets and Reports

You can make a backup file, export a spreadsheet (CSV) and make PDF reports. They are built on your device and handed to Android's share sheet, file picker or print screen. Where they go is your choice; the app never sends one on its own. A backup can be protected with a password you choose: it is then encrypted on your device and the password is never stored with the backup or sent anywhere. Spreadsheets and PDFs are not encrypted, so anyone who has one can read it. Printing may send a document to a printer or print service you pick, under that service's own privacy policy.

With Stowed Pro you can turn on automatic backups. You choose a folder (on your phone, an SD card or a cloud provider such as Google Drive) through Android's folder picker, and the app saves encrypted backups there. If you choose a cloud folder, that provider's policy applies to the files in it. The backup password you set is kept in your device's secure storage so the app can make backups without asking.

The "Tell a friend" menu item opens Android's share sheet with a short fixed message and a link to this website. It contains nothing from your entries, and you choose who receives it.

Notifications

If you turn on reminders (warranty dates and log reminders), the app asks for notification permission and schedules local notifications on your device. They are not sent through any server. Notifications for items in locked places do not show the item's name.

Android Backup

The app turns off Android's automatic cloud backup of its data, so its data is not copied into your Google account backup. Use the app's own backups instead.

Permissions

Stowed requests only these permissions:

It does not request access to your contacts, location or microphone, and it contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting software. The camera is also used through Android's camera screen when you choose to take a photo of an item. A box label's QR code holds only a short code, never anything from your inventory.

Deleting Your Data

Your data is only on your device, so you control it. You can delete any entry in the app, and uninstalling the app removes everything it stored. Backups, spreadsheets and PDFs you saved yourself stay where you saved them until you delete them.

Children's Privacy

Stowed is not directed at children under 13. The app does not collect personal information at all, as described above.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, this page will be updated with a new effective date, and any material change to how your data is handled will be described here.
