Tabata Forge

Tabata Forge Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 7, 2026

The short version: Tabata Forge stores your workouts, history, and body metrics locally on your device. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere on its own. The app requests no internet access at all. Workout files you open or share stay on your device unless you choose to send them somewhere yourself. Spoken motivational phrases use your device's on-device text-to-speech. No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking.

Information We Collect

Tabata Forge does not require an account and does not collect, transmit, or have access to the workouts, history, or body-metric entries you create, or the workout files you open. Everything is stored locally in the app's private storage on your device. We (the developer) never see this data, because the app has no network permission and cannot send it anywhere.

Spoken Motivation and Text-to-Speech

Tabata Forge can speak short motivational phrases aloud during a workout, and read a sample phrase aloud when you tap the "Test" button next to the Speech rate slider in Settings. This uses your device's built-in text-to-speech engine. Depending on your device and its settings, some text-to-speech engines process everything on-device, while others may send the text being spoken to an online service to generate the audio — that behavior is controlled by your device's system settings, not by Tabata Forge, and is governed by your text-to-speech provider's own privacy policy. You can turn spoken motivation off entirely from the gear icon on the home screen, under Settings → Motivation. Workouts made by creators can also include their own recorded voice clips and sound effects; those play from files stored on your device and do not use text-to-speech or any network connection.

Workout Files from Other People

Tabata Forge can open a workout file (.tfworkout) that someone else made, for example one a fitness creator emailed to you or posted on their website. Opening a file is always something you do: from an email attachment, a browser download, a file manager, or Custom Workouts → Import. Tabata Forge itself never downloads anything and has no internet access; if a file comes from a link, your browser or email app downloads it.

Before anything is saved, the app reads the file on your device, checks it, and shows you what it contains, including who made it and a notice that it comes from a third party. Only after you confirm does it copy the workout's images and sound clips into the app's private storage. Anything the app does not recognise or that is too large is rejected. A workout file's content is made and owned by its creator, not by KATR Software, and we do not review it. Deleting a workout removes the imported images and sounds it used, unless another workout still uses them, and Custom Workouts → Free up space can remove leftovers you no longer need.

A creator's workout can include a link to their video or website. Tapping a link asks you to confirm and then opens it in your browser. Tabata Forge does not connect to those sites itself, and what they collect is covered by their own privacy policies.

Workout History and Body Metrics

Completed and stopped-early workouts are logged locally so you can see your History chart and log. Body Metrics (weight and fitness level entries) are likewise stored only on your device. Both can be cleared at any time from within the app, and neither is ever transmitted anywhere.

Sharing

Tabata Forge lets you share a text summary of a completed workout, or of your History, using Android's standard share sheet. You can also share one of your own workouts as a .tfworkout file: the app builds the file on your device, including any images, sound clips and creator details you added to that workout, and hands it to the share sheet. Check what is in a workout before you send it. Anyone who receives a workout file can open it in Tabata Forge and share it onward, and we do not control or track copies once they leave your device. This is entirely user-initiated — you choose the app or contact to share with, and Tabata Forge itself never sends this data anywhere on its own.

Permissions

Tabata Forge requests only the device permissions it needs to function:

Tabata Forge does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, or location, has no internet permission, and contains no advertising or analytics software of any kind.

Children's Privacy

Tabata Forge is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, regardless of age — the app simply does not collect data in the first place, as described above.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, this page will be updated with a new effective date, and any material change affecting how your data is handled will be described here before you're asked to opt in.
